Parent guide

Use the Farsi Kids parent guide to set up practice, record family voices and move recordings between devices. Start with the free first lesson or picture matching. A grown-up opens recording and purchase controls through an arithmetic check. Voice clips stop at 30 seconds, and there is no automatic sync or backup.

Setup: how do we start?

Open the app or browser version. Start with the free first lesson or picture matching. An adult can open For grown-ups by answering the arithmetic question. Paid lessons require the purchase option shown on your platform; a web license unlocks the browser version, while Apple purchases unlock iOS. Availability and terms appear in the app.

Recording tips: how do we record family voices?

In For grown-ups, choose Record voices for a lesson. Record the question and model answer separately, using the displayed Farsi, transliteration and English. Use a quiet room, hold the microphone nearby, speak naturally, then stop and listen. Clips stop at 30 seconds. Allow microphone access when asked. Family recordings take priority over bundled clips where available. If a clip is missing, an adult can read the words aloud.

Moving voices: how do we transfer between devices?

Grandma can record on her own device or browser. Open For grown-ups and choose Export voices. This creates one family.farsivoices file containing all recorded family questions and answers. Saved child conversations are excluded. On the web it downloads; on native it is saved in the app's documents folder and opens the share sheet when available. The app displays the saved path.

Send the file to family yourself. In the receiving browser, open For grown-ups → Import voices and select it. On native there is no document picker in this build: Import voices requires a local file URI accessible to the app. If you cannot provide one, use browser import instead. Browser import does not transfer recordings into the native app automatically.

New prompts merge into existing recordings. If prompts already have family voices, choose to keep them or explicitly confirm replacement. Cancel leaves the import unapplied. Files must be version 1, at most 40 MB, contain known prompt IDs, and use supported audio MIME types and valid base64. This build has no partial-export selector; collections over the limit cannot be transferred in one file.

Troubleshooting: how do we fix recording and import problems?

No microphone: enable permission in your browser or device settings and try again. No sound: check volume and play the recording again; audio formats recorded in one browser may not play on every device. A missing bundled clip needs a family recording or an adult reading aloud. Import rejected: use an unedited .farsivoices export from this app and check the size. A storage error can leave some clips imported; retry and keep existing voices. Export a backup before clearing browser data or uninstalling. There is no automatic sync or backup.

Privacy: how are recordings kept private?

Recordings and practice progress stay on this device or browser until you choose to share or export recordings. Exported files contain audio, not encrypted by the app: send them only to people you trust. Delete all recordings in For grown-ups removes local family voices and keepsakes, but cannot delete copies you sent. Purchases use external payment services; see the privacy policy.

Refunds: how do they work?

Web purchases: request a refund within 14 days at shaharfrish6@gmail.com. Apple purchases: request through reportaproblem.apple.com; Apple decides eligibility. Statutory rights unaffected.
